Our Staff Advisor Miss Stephanie JIN visited the wining apartments, 1/F H1 and 2/F H2 of Wan’s Lodge and had a hearty discussion on how to upkeep the condition of the apartment with the residents. Below are some of the highlights shared by the two Housing Coordinators, Bernadette (B) and Hariadi (H): 1. About Cleaning Schedule B: We do not have a fixed cleaning schedule but all the residents would start cleaning as soon as they finished using the facilities and appliances. H: We organize a time to do house cleaning together when needed. This usually happens once a week. 2. Self-discipline and Motivation B: Initially, one of the residents took the lead to upkeep the apartment and played an active role in cleaning when we just moved in. Later, the rest of residents started taking up some cleaning as well and reached an agreement on immediate cleaning. In this case, there is no free rider. H: We had a talk when everyone just moved into the apartment last September to understand each other's habits and set expectations on what is acceptable with regards to housekeeping. We made sure everyone understand and accept their responsibilities in the apartment. The most important thing is to ensure buy-in from all housemates and to get along well with each other. Rules only work when all parties involved are happy to follow them. Humid Weather Precautions Humid weather precautions were issued to residents in early March 2017, assisting them to minimize mold growing and water dripping from the ceiling in the apartment during spring time. read more Flat Viewing Tour to Tai Po Tsai Village Guided by property agent, students visited Tai Po Tsai village to find out about housing options and living environment there on 27 April 2017. The tour was very welcome by students and we may arrange a second visit to this area to accommodate students who were not able to go with us last time. Off-campus Apartments Renting Talk and Sharing A talk aimed to familiarize students with off-campus accommodation hunting steps, lease signing, general rental regulations in Hong Kong, important things to note upon moving into a new place was organized on 26 April 2017. Village housing in Sai Kung & Clear Water Bay were introduced as well.
