Abstract: Part of the Regional Future Development session of the IAS Symposium on Activated Sludge. Professor Guanghao Chen specializes in “biological wastewater treatment process exploration, sewer iofilm modeling, low-cost MBR, and urine treatment”. He became a Fellow of International Water Association (IWA) in 2011. In 2012, he received several awards, the Huber International Technology Prize of Germany (PhD student), IWA East Asia Project Innovation Honor Award in Applied Research, IWA Global Grand Project Innovation Honor Award in Applied Research and IWA Sustainability Prize respectively, and a Finalist of Smart Cities Award in Project Organized Smart City World Congress in Spain. He is a Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Associate Director, the Institute for the Environment, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong.
