Abstract: Part of the Regional Experience-I session of the IAS Symposium on Activated Sludge. Professor Jiuhui Qu specializes in “water quality control technology, principal, technology and application for drinking water quality and safety control, water quality risk assessment, and pollution control”. He was awarded the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress in 2004 and 2006 respectively. In 2009, he received the Science and Technology Progress Award from The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation and the IWA East Asia Project Innovation Honor Award in Applied Research. In 2012, he was awarded the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Invention. Currently, he is a Professor of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He is also an Academician, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, China.
