Notes: | Institute for Advanced Study Distinguished Speakers Series. Abstract: Humans have embarked on an environmental experiment of unprecedented proportions. Emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases since pre-industrial time have altered the Earth's energy balance. Increasing levels of particles (aerosols) over the globe exert complex effects on climate, and uncertainty associated with the radiative effects of aerosols is considered the largest uncertainty in predicting future climate. It is projected, in addition, that climate change will impact urban/regional air pollution. In this talk, Prof John Seinfeld from California Institute of Technology discusses global climate change and impacts on air pollution. Duration: 75 min. |
